Layered Chocolate Cake Recipe

June 6, 2012

I finally joined Pinterest and my world will never be the same.  Thankfully I held off as long as I did because who knows what would have happened if I had signed up any earlier.  I am officially addicted.  I spend hours looking at recipe after recipe trying to decide what to make next.

I have a huge sweet tooth and love to bake, so imagine my excitement when I found a cake recipe that tops all cake recipes.  Check out this recipe on The Food Pusher’s blog. This is no ordinary cake... it has 4 cake layers, 3 different fillings (French silk pie filling, mascarpone cream filling, AND cocoa whipped cream), and is topped with a beautiful ganache dripping over the sides of cocoa whipped cream frosting.  Could that sound any more decadent?

I’m sure there is something to be said for simple elegance, and a time where understated is best.  However, this is not that time.  This is the time for an over the top dessert experience!  Layering of flavors and textures takes a dessert to a whole new level.  You can pack so much more taste, interest, and excitement into every bite.  I mean, a cake without a filling is just wasted opportunity, right?  And this cake has not one, not two, but three different fillings.  It is definitely calling my name.  How lucky for me that my husband’s birthday is coming up and I have a reason to make this gorgeous beast of a cake.  It must be fate!
