1. Nostalgic Fudge


NPD reports Fudge Kitchen announced a new selection of their fudge that looks to the past. The Tuck Shop sharing selection has nostalgic fudge flavors like lemon sherbet, liquorice, pear drop and many more.

2. Magical Milkshakes


Marble Slab Creamery® and MaggieMoo’s® Ice Cream have introduced two Majestic Shakes™ that are Cookie Dough and Cotton Candy flavored. 3. Natural Motivates


Despite lack of regulation, the claim “Natural” written on food packages motivates more than half (53%) of Americans to buy a product this year. There is no established definition of natural but many define it as no additives, artificial flavors, sweeteners, or preservatives. | IFT

4. Freekuh


Freekeh (pronounced freak-uh) is an Arabic word that means “to rub” and is commonly used in Northern Africa and in the Middle East. Consumers are starting to use freekeh in a variety of ways as a substitute for another grain, sometimes as a side dish or even as a nut-like salad topping.

5. 7-Eleven Stepping It Up


7-Eleven is opening lab stores that will be testing new up-scale concepts and items including beer on tap, an in-store taqueria, cold-pressed juices and other organic products. This is a result of consumers looking for more than slurpies and hotdogs. | Grocery Dive


6. Trying CBD


A market research firm, High Yield Insights, led a study which found that 40% of U.S. consumers, 21 and over, would try CBD. To consumers, CBD is associated with health and wellness. | Food Dive

7. Trending Cuisines


Many global comfort foods are on the rise. Think fermented vegetables, flatbreads, regional BBQ, and street food. 8. Jerk Style Plantain Chips


Trader Joes released a new style of chips that are called “Jerk-Style” Plantain Chips. These chips were inspired by traditional Jamaican cooking and are dusted in allspice, garlic powder, cinnamon, coriander, nutmeg, and ginger extract. | Trader Joes

9. Prescriptions for Food


A health care provider and food bank in Pennsylvania began testing the idea of food medicine to help combat type II diabetes by opening a store, Fresh Food Farmacy, and start prescribing healthy foods.
