FONA International is extremely pleased to announce the induction of its Founder, Chairman & CEO, Joe Slawek, into the University of Illinois at Chicago Alumni Leadership Academy, honoring his excellence in business. “Your exceptional personal and professional achievements in the field of business exemplify the highest standard of excellence expected of our graduates,” said Michael Mikhail, Dean of the UIC College of Business Administration.

Speaking to a crowd of more than 300 attendees, Joe Slawek thanked UIC for the tremendous honor, saying that their “recognition of business excellence encourages us all to be faithful, to be creative, to develop character, to be responsible, to plan ahead and to come together to profitably grow.”

He also shared that his fondness for his alma mater has a special twist: “I met my wife Mary less than 100 yards from where I’m standing tonight,” he said. The Alumni Leadership Academy celebrates those alumni who best exemplify the College of Business Administration’s commitment to leadership, teaching, research, and service. Members are inducted into the ALA based on the nomination of their peers.
