1. The Great Scape


Meet the part of the garlic plant you’re probably not using but should be. Next time you’re at the farmer’s market keep an eye out for bundles of curly green stalks—called garlic scapes. They have a mild but distinct garlic flavor and can be used to add a unique flavor twist to dishes that usually call for garlic. | Rachael Ray

2. Pickle Juice Slush


Calling all pickle lovers! The Pickle Juice Slush was introduced on Monday, June 11th at Sonic as a limited time offering. The bright green beverage will meet the needs of their target consumers who love to try adventurous and fun flavors—especially during their happy hour when they are half-price. | USA Today


3. Sniff Seal


A new sniff seal developed by the Tekni-Plex packaging company, will allow consumers to experience what a product smells like before purchasing. This new seal will be available for dairy, confectionery, bakery and beverage products—taking scratch and sniff to a whole new level. | Food Dive

4. Hall of Breakfast


Move over Museum of Ice Cream, there’s a new trend to play homage to—breakfast! At Salt Lake City’s ‘Hall of Breakfast’ you can climb on a giant fried egg and even swing on a pink doughnut with sprinkles. 5. Muscle Mac


Brace yourself, fit foodies, because your post-workout recovery sessions are about to get a whole lot cheesier. Muscle Mac is an amped up mac & cheese offering 20 grams of protein and GMO-free noodles and has been described as “the best creation ever” and “tastes like regular mac and cheese. 6. Ban on Plastic Bags


Chile is the first country in the Americas to pass a bill that will prohibit the use of plastic bags in stores. The new law gives large retailers 1 year to phase out the use of plastic bags. They are estimating in Chile that 200 bags per person are used annually. | World Economic Forum

7. Cereal Milk Ice Cream


Cereal milk ice cream and shakes are now available for a limited time at Marble Slab Creamery. We have spotted cereal milk coffees and other items, but this is new to the dessert space, bringing the best of breakfast to your summer ice cream treat. | Daily Dose of Dairy


8. IHOb


IHOP — the International House of Pancakes — is changing its name to IHOb and will now feature burgers, the company said in a tweet (that was not posted on April Fool’s Day.) It remains to be seen whether the change will be permanent or merely a flash in the pan (cake) to promote hamburgers. | NPR

9. Cup of Java


U.S. coffee consumption has reached its highest level in six years, with a recent National Coffee Association poll revealing that 64% of Americans aged 18 and older drank a cup of java within the past 24 hours. Gourmet coffee accounted for more than 50% of the market. | Reuters


10. Pizza Bouquet


Just in time for peak wedding season, the national pizzeria chain Villa Italian Kitchen has introduced a bouquet and boutonniere combo made entirely out of pizza ingredients.
